Normally, on this blog, I will not talk about fast food. I mean why will I talk about fast food…?
But the recent encounter with this add make me jumped on my seat….
Seriously MacDo, you call your fries, “Best Fries on the planet”….
From which planet are we talking about…? Cannot be Earth…!
Let me resume, you guys, hired an “Actor” to explain, to normal people like me, that you need 19 ingredients to do your fries…!!!
From, Polydimethylsiloxane, which is a form of Silicone found also in Hair or skin products, to a petrol-based chemical called tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) which “may or may not at a high doses be carcinogenic, especially for stomach tumors.
And I forgot some Beef Flavor and sugar as well… weird…!!!
Now, let me tell you how to make the BEST FRENCH FRIES ever…
First you need some Idaho, russet potatoes or La Bintje or any potatoes who looks like that
Peel or not the skin, up to you, but before that, wash them..
Slice them to give the shape you want, then let them in cold water. This will help wash clean some of the starches.
As I like them crispy outside and melted inside, I will advise to do a single boiled first.
For that, you will need a pot of cold water, add your baton inside and then remove them at the first boil.
Remove your batons from the hot water, and let them dry on paper towels and let them cool down.
Now, that your batons are dry and cold, add them in hot oil (depending on your fryer, between 275°f to 325°f) or (135°C to 160°C).
Remove them once you see a crust, but no color, that is the secret…
Place them on paper towel to cool down and remove the oil excess.
And now you can Fry them for the second time at a higher temperature (375°f to 425°f) or (190°C to 220°C) until you get the golden color, which will take around 5-6 mn…
Put them for the last time on paper towel, to remove excess oil, transfer them in a bowl where you ca season them with salt, and voila, you will have the Best Fries in the planet…
